WOMEN IN MOLLET

Natàlia Cabezuelo and Anna Careta.

Through the ages, women have always had to fight to be somebody in a world that has always belonged to men... Until now.
Discrimination against women is dissappearing day by day, but it’s still present in our society.
In the past, women could not go school or work, and they had to stay at home takig care of the family and the house.
It’s true that nowadays, men and women can go to school and can work but still it is not the same for men than for women.
For example:
A man and a woman apply for a job, and their curriculums are the same, there’s a great percentage of possibilities that the man is choosed instead of the woman.

Mollet del Vallés had and still has women who are fighting to succed in what they want to be: entrepreneurs, owners of their own business or even mayors.
One of the most succesfull women in Mollet has been the last mayor Mollet had. Montserrat Tura.

Montserrat Tura i Camafreita is a succesful woman born in Mollet who, after acheiving the position of mayor of a little city as Mollet del Vallés, has been accepted to be secretary of the Parliament of Catalonia thanks her merits.

Mrs. Tura was born in 1954 in a pleasant family with a large republican tradition that fought against Franco. She was born in Mollet del Vallès and has been the first woman to become Mayor of Mollet. She followed the tradition of her family by becoming mayor of this small city in 1987: her grandfather and her great-grandfather were also Mayors of Mollet.
Several years later Montserrat left Mollet to become a Member of the Parliament.
Nowadays she is the national secretary of the Party Membership of Catalonia and a member of the National Executive Committee.

Camera position

The positon from which Remei Rico has taken this picture is not the usual position of the viewer passing by this building in our school. This chosen camera position creates a bizarre effect where the red brick building looks like being emerging from a green forest and surrounded by vegetation.

Depth of Field

This photo taken by Andrea Corchero during the last carnestoltes Festival in the school playground conveys to us the atmosphere of the party going on right there. She achieved a nice blur effect on the background by using a big aperture that focus in the main character. That picture was choosen for the frontpage of Xarpants magazine.
