With the constitution of the Consortium, has completed the final step to ensure that Gallecs will be a free space of urbanization, which will remain an open space, farmland and recreational area in nature to nearby villages. Those municipalities that have struggled as of Mollet for many years to preserve this area next to the citizens and organizations are pleased to end the historical claim to participate in the management of this place with a great environmental value for the municipalities and their neighbours. The goals that “La Generalitat” and the council of Mollet Del Vallès want to impose in the natural space of Gallecs are: to protect and conserve the land of this territory, to protect and improve ecological values, scenic, agricultural and forestry production, to do an ambient education, etc.
Today, 23rd of November, we have remembered a little bit of history about Gallecs, our natural space.
Today we are in Gallecs, and we have spoken with two Farmers. They are retired, and they are working there since 12 years ago. In their lives, they have grown in an agricultural space, working there. They explained us that if you want to have a piece of ground there, you have to give 240 € approximately and when you no longer want, the council gives you back the money. What they mostly planted are tomatoes, lettuce, in short, vegetables. The crops are for themselves. The time that they expend there is all the free time that they have, more or less two hours per day, but not every day, because they always are with their grandchildren and family.
As you know, Gallecs has his own shop, and we have made two questions to them. The typical products of Gallecs are “mongeta de ganxet”, chickpeas and flour of “espenta”.
