One day you will grow old and understand what I am saying. Until then please just try and understand that we are people with feelings and minds too and treat us with some consideration.
It’s half six, we are in Mollet, in front of Santa Rosa residence. With us we have Cristina that is the organizer in the center. This center is located in Álvarez de Castro street nº 53 – 57. It’s a public residence with 80 people that can access. It has 22 places used for day center and 58 places acting like a residence, with rooms suitable staff. With her assistants, she organizes all of the activities that the center does for the old people. The service requests lots of things that are much better for them. They assist them in private home, they organize excursions…and the most important thing is that they treat them with the same respect as the other people.
On 2001 0,96% of the population of Mollet were older than 85 years, and the 9,13% were between 65 and 85 years old. They’ve had a life ahead, but ages changes. On 1996 0,72% were older than 85 years and on 1991 the 0,61%. We can observe that the number of elderly increases with years. Tat means that nowadays more than 0,96% of the population of Mollet is more than 85 years old. Most of people don’t have enough money or time to take care of their old parents or grandparents,, in these cases residences for elderly are a helping hand. In these types of centres professional people help our loved parents to eat, take a shower, etc…
Most of old people live in residences, although many people live alone by their own too. What’s more, they have the same habilities to stay alone at home. To conclude, we recommend to elderly community to stay on residences where their lives would be more comfortable and peaceful.
